What Pupils Will Receive

To support learning, every pupil will receive their own set of working books.

With these resources, pupils have everything they need to think creatively, practise essential skills, and produce polished writing, while developing a growing collection of books to support their English journey.

Basic writing utensils will also be provided.

The list below identifies what is included in your purchase:

Mind Mapping Rough Book: A space for creative thinking, brainstorming and idea development. Children are encouraged to take risks with their writing here - mistakes are welcomed, as they provide the starting point for uplevelling and improvement.

Handwriting Book: Used for settling-in activities, handwriting fluency and regular spelling practice. This helps children build confidence with the basics and beyond to master cursive writing if appropriate.

Writing Book: A dedicated book for structured writing tasks. This is where children can showcase their best work and track their progress over time.

Study Texts & Novels: Throughout the programme we will use selected study texts and novels to inspire reading comprehension and creative writing. To ensure fairness, all pupils work from the same edition of each text.

Copies will always be available to borrow during the session so no child will ever be left out.

However, we strongly recommend that each child has their own personal copy.

This enables them to complete any follow-up activities at home and to revisit the text for deeper understanding.

Texts will be available to purchase directly through the club at an additional cost or you can purchase from recommended stockists. Advance notice will be given so parents can plan ahead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you teach subjects other than English in the sessions?

Other subjects can be arranged for Early Years and primary pupils, online and in-person, including preparation for entrance exams and the 11+. However, at this venue, primary English is the only subject taught covering reading comprehension, writing and spelling.

Do I need to buy the study texts and novels being studied?

All pupils will always have access to the study texts during sessions. A small number of copies will be available to borrow on the day. However, we strongly recommend that each child has their own personal copy to take home. This ensures they can complete follow-up activities, re-read sections for deeper understanding and build confidence by working independently. Texts will be provided, subject to availability, at cost price through the club so that all children use the same edition.

How will you support children who find English difficult or are at a different level?

Every session is carefully differentiated. Children who find English challenging are supported with sentence starters, word banks, visual aids and scaffolded tasks. They will also receive much gentle encouragement and plenty of praise.

As the group size is small (maximum of 8 per adult), each child will receive close support. Our goal is to build confidence as well as skills, so even reluctant learners feel successful..

How will you stretch children who are already strong writers?

Children who are confident writers will be challenged through extension activities such as figurative language, complex sentence structures and advanced vocabulary. Opportunities to edit and refine for precision and impact, peer and staff feedback and performance opportunities. Uplevelled work including experimenting with different genres and tones will also feature. This approach ensures that every child, no matter their starting point, is always learning and moving forward..

How do you keep children safe during the sessions??

Your child’s safety is our top priority. We follow full Ofsted-aligned safeguarding and Health & Safety policies, copies are made available to you once you have enrolled your child. Other safety arrangements include:

Enhanced DBS checks for staff

First aid provision on site

Secure collection procedures (children are only released to authorised adults)

Clear emergency evacuation, missing child and visitor procedures

Parents can feel confident that their child is learning in a safe, nurturing environment.

What is your refund policy if my child misses a session?

We understand that children may occasionally need to miss a session due to illness, family events, or other commitments. Unfortunately, refunds cannot be provided for missed sessions, as costs for staffing, venue hire, and resources remain the same. However, to ensure no learning is lost, lesson notes and key activities will be made available so your child can catch up at home and stay in step with the group.

How do I book the sessions?

Booking your child’s place is quick and simple:

1. Click on one of the 'Book Now' buttons - this will take you to our secure booking form.
2. Complete the form with your child’s details - including name, age, and any relevant information (e.g. emergency contact details, learning needs, medical notes etc).
3. Proceed to payment - you’ll be taken to our payment portal to confirm your booking.
4. Receive confirmation - confirmation email will be sent straight to your inbox (please check your spam/junk folder if it doesn’t appear).
5. Further details provided - you’ll then receive all the information you need about the sessions, what to bring, and how to prepare.

Please note: spaces are limited to keep group sizes small and focused. Booking early is recommended to avoid disappointment.
